Centre Stands Firm on E20 Fuel Rollout

The Central Government has reaffirmed its commitment to the nationwide implementation of E20 petrol, despite growing concerns from vehicle owners over engine performance and maintenance. Responding in Parliament, Union Minister Suresh Gopi stated that the government considers E20 fuel safe and confirmed there is no proposal to withdraw the policy or restore the supply of ethanol-free petrol.

The minister also clarified that while the government remains committed to the 20 percent ethanol blending target, it has not taken any decision to increase the blend beyond the current level. The statement comes amid ongoing debates over fuel compatibility, with the Centre maintaining that E20 is an important step toward reducing crude oil imports and promoting cleaner, domestically produced energy.
