The Sri Lankan government has taken a key decision to significantly increase fuel prices. The revised prices came into effect from midnight. The price of Octane 92 petrol has been increased by ₹24 per litre, taking the current price to ₹317 per litre. Similarly, Octane 95 petrol has been raised by ₹25, bringing its price to ₹365 per litre. The price of auto diesel has been increased by ₹22, now standing at ₹303 per litre, while super diesel has gone up by ₹24, reaching ₹353 per litre. Additionally, the price of kerosene has been increased by ₹13, making it ₹195 per litre.
Meanwhile, Pakistan has also announced a significant hike in fuel prices. The government there has already increased the prices of petrol and diesel by ₹55 per litre. Analysts believe that these sharp price hikes are likely to place an additional financial burden on people in both countries.
