A serious ragging incident at the hostel of Osmania Medical College has come to light, leading to disciplinary and legal action against senior students. According to police officials, first-year students from the 2025 batch were allegedly subjected to mental harassment and intimidation by a group of final-year students. The accused reportedly forced juniors to perform personal errands and subjected them to repeated humiliation inside the hostel premises. The issue was initially noticed by interns who attempted to intervene and protect the juniors from further harassment.
Despite counseling sessions conducted by the college administration and wardens, the situation escalated when the accused students allegedly targeted not only the juniors but also interns who had objected to the ragging. Based on the findings of an internal inquiry committee, a complaint was filed with the police, resulting in a case being registered at Sultan Bazar Police Station. Police have taken 12 students into custody in connection with the incident. College authorities have also suspended all 12 students for six months pending further action.
