Adavipallepalle Panchayat Financial Irregularities Spark Concern

A financial irregularity has been reported in Adavipallepalle Gram Panchayat, where around Rs 15 lakh was withdrawn from the panchayat account under the head of diesel purchase for a tractor. Similar withdrawals totaling nearly Rs 30 lakh were recorded in multiple nearby panchayats as well. The issue came to light through the Swarna Panchayat portal, prompting the Panchayat Raj Commissioner to order an immediate inquiry.

In response to the allegations, the Panchayat Secretary and Special Officer stated that the funds were used to pay staff salaries as they had not been receiving wages for several months. They claimed that due to technical limitations, salaries could not be processed under wage heads, leading to withdrawals from the diesel account. Officials, however, suspect violation of rules due to misuse of accounting heads. The DPO is expected to submit a detailed report within two days.
