Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh High Court Hears Plea on Conduct of Local Body Elections

The Andhra Pradesh High Court has heard a petition concerning the conduct of local body elections in the state. The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) has approached the court seeking adequate security for candidates, CCTV surveillance and live webcasting to ensure transparency during the election process.

During the hearing, the High Court directed the State Election Commission to submit complete details regarding security arrangements for candidates. It also issued notices to the Secretary of the State Election Commission, the Principal Secretary of the Panchayat Raj Department and the Director General of Police (DGP) of Andhra Pradesh. Further proceedings are expected to address the security measures and monitoring arrangements proposed for the local body elections.
