The Andhra Pradesh government has written to the Chairman of the Krishna River Management Board (KRMB), seeking immediate finalisation of water sharing in the Srisailam and Nagarjuna Sagar reservoirs. In a letter dated August 6, 2026, the state urged the board to clearly determine the water shares of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, keeping in view the possible impact of El Niño on water availability.
The Special Chief Secretary of the Andhra Pradesh Water Resources Department also requested KRMB to convene an urgent board or three-member committee meeting with a single-point agenda focused on water allocation. The state stressed the need for prudent water management and appropriate decisions based on reservoir availability to ensure equitable usage by both states.
