

Police have made significant progress in the Army weapons theft case, arresting seven people based on information provided by the prime accused, Mallesham. The arrested individuals have been identified as Sheshu, Vinod, Praveen, Niranjan, Mallikarjun, Birbal Shah and Avi Dey. Malkajgiri Commissioner of Police Sumathi said the investigation has revealed that three of the accused—A2 Sheshu, A3 Vinod and A4 Praveen—were working in the Army.
According to the CP, the investigation found no terrorist links in the case. The accused allegedly planned to use the stolen weapons to carry out robberies at banks and jewellery shops and to threaten wealthy individuals. Police said the accused contacted West Bengal-based Birbal Shah and Avi Dey to procure weapons. A deal was reportedly fixed at ₹3 lakh for a pistol and ₹5 lakh for a long weapon.
