The investigation into the alleged Ram Mandir donation theft has taken a significant turn, with the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust removing senior RSS leader Bhaiyyaji Joshi from his role as the Trust's patron. The Trust stated that the decision was part of an organisational restructuring undertaken in the wake of the donation theft case. Responding to the development, Joshi said he stepped down due to health-related reasons.
Bhaiyyaji Joshi was appointed as the Trust's patron following allegations of irregularities in land purchases related to the Ram Janmabhoomi project. Though he largely remained away from public attention, he played an important role in the Trust's decision-making process. Meanwhile, former Trust General Secretary Champat Rai said that cash and valuables worth nearly ₹80 lakh had been recovered from the accused even before an FIR was registered. The government has also constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to examine administrative aspects related to the Trust.
