The Central Government has introduced another major benefit for ration card holders under the One Nation One Ration Card (ONORC) scheme. Eligible beneficiaries can now collect their ration from any Fair Price Shop across India, regardless of the state in which their ration card was originally registered. This move eliminates dependency on a single ration outlet and offers greater flexibility in accessing food grains.
Millions of beneficiaries covered under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana and the National Food Security Act (NFSA) are expected to benefit from this initiative. Using Aadhaar-based biometric authentication, card holders can collect rice, wheat, and other food grains from any authorized ration shop. The decision is expected to provide significant relief to migrant workers and families living away from their home states while strengthening food security nationwide.
