The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing alleged irregularities in donations and offerings received by the Ayodhya Ram Mandir has uncovered important clues during its investigation. Officials suspect that CCTV cameras inside the temple premises may have been tampered with to eliminate evidence related to the alleged theft of cash and ornaments from donation boxes. The findings emerged after a detailed examination of the temple’s surveillance and security systems.
According to the SIT, nearly ₹10 crore was spent on security arrangements at the temple over the last 11 months. Despite this, reports of missing cash and valuables raised serious concerns. The SIT has prepared a list of around 200 people for questioning and has already examined more than 125 individuals. Investigators are also reviewing the role of bank staff and trust employees in the donation counting process. Meanwhile, key accused Ram Shankar alias Tinu Yadav was questioned for several hours as part of the ongoing probe.
