Centre Warns of AI-Powered Cyber Fraud Attacks

The Central Government has issued a warning that cyber criminals are increasingly using artificial intelligence to bypass security systems and target financial institutions. Officials stated that deepfake videos and fake identities are being used to easily bypass facial recognition systems and KYC verification processes.

Hackers are reportedly contacting victims through social media platforms, job portals, dating apps, and phone calls, tricking them into speaking in front of cameras to steal facial data. The Ministry of Home Affairs has advised banks to strengthen deepfake detection systems and urged citizens to protect their biometric data from misuse.
