Chandrababu Government's Big Step for BC Protection

The Andhra Pradesh government has accelerated the process of introducing the BC Protection Law, aimed at ensuring dignity, social security, and equal rights for Backward Classes. A key meeting chaired by BC Welfare Minister Savitha was held in Vijayawada with BC ministers, MLAs, MLCs, and MPs to discuss the draft legislation. The government said it would also seek suggestions from BC community representatives across districts before sending the draft to the National Commission for Backward Classes for approval and later introducing it in the Assembly.

Ministers Savitha and Atchannaidu said the proposed law would impose strict punishment on those who insult or harass BC communities based on their caste or traditional occupations. They stated that the coalition government is fulfilling its election promise by bringing the legislation. The ministers added that the government's objective is to strengthen the political, social, and economic empowerment of BCs while also working to increase BC reservations in the state to 34 percent.
