Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has written two separate letters to Union Agriculture and Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, seeking additional support for farmers and poor families in the state. The Chief Minister requested advance approval to procure 100% of the estimated Kharif 2026 production of nine crops under the PM-AASHA scheme through AP MARKFED. The crops include red gram, green gram, black gram, sorghum, pearl millet, maize, ragi, foxtail millet and groundnut. He said the move would help farmers receive remunerative prices and avoid distress sales.
Naidu also sought the early release of pending funds under the RKVY Kisan Drone programme and other agricultural allocations. He said the release of the approved funds would help complete the establishment of farm machinery banks across 1,130 villages. In a separate housing request, the Chief Minister thanked the Centre for sanctioning 3 lakh houses and sought another 6 lakh houses for rural Andhra Pradesh. He said the state aims to provide permanent homes to every eligible poor family by 2029 and assured that the state government would take responsibility for completing the additional houses quickly.
