China has announced a major education reform by making Artificial Intelligence (AI) education compulsory for primary and secondary school students across the country. Starting from the first grade, students will receive 8 to 10 hours of mandatory AI learning every academic year.
The curriculum will introduce younger students to block programming, image-recognition robots, and smart AI tools. Middle school students will learn data preparation and generative AI applications, while high school students will study neural networks, machine learning algorithms, and AI ethics. The initiative is part of China’s broader strategy to strengthen its position as a global AI leader by 2030.
