Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) leader Ashutosh Ranka has said the party’s campaign has taken a new direction following the detention of protesters during the October 10 demonstration in Delhi. Addressing a press conference, Ranka said the movement initially focused on Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
Ranka said the detention of thousands of protesters had widened the party’s opposition to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. CJP leaders and several Opposition figures were detained ahead of the planned demonstration at Jantar Mantar. The party has accused authorities of suppressing peaceful dissent and demanded accountability for the police action, linking its concerns over voter-list revision to the government’s handling of protests.
