Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke has criticised the Central government over the five-day custody of party leaders Saurav Das and Ashutosh Rankala. He alleged that they were sent to Tihar Jail for displaying the national flag. Dipke asserted that the right to protest is guaranteed by the Constitution and said his group was campaigning to protect democracy and voting rights. Addressing Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said that if the government intended to impose an Emergency, it should do so officially rather than attempting to suppress protests through arrests and detentions.
Dipke alleged that the Centre was focusing on CJP's protests despite opposition to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process from several political parties. He described CJP as an independent protest group and said it was not opposed to the INDIA bloc, adding that both shared the same objective. Meanwhile, Delhi Police registered four FIRs against INDIA bloc leaders over alleged violations of prohibitory orders during a protest at Jantar Mantar on Monday. Authorities also reportedly asked social media platforms to remove around 500 posts considered objectionable or misleading in connection with the protests in Delhi.
