The Chamber of Trade and Industry (CTI) has urged Union Home Minister Amit Shah to prohibit protests in Delhi until Diwali, citing concerns over possible disruptions during the peak festive season. The trade body said demonstrations and marches during this crucial period could obstruct business activity and cause substantial financial losses to traders and businesses across the capital.
CTI warned that upcoming marches by Citizens for Justice and Peace (CJP) could affect commercial activity and the local economy. It also cited an estimated loss of ₹2,000 crore due to recent demonstrations. The trade body has called for measures to prevent disruptions during the festive season and protect business operations. The request is an appeal by CTI, not a confirmed government decision.
