During the Sharannavaratri celebrations, Goddess Kanaka Durga at Indrakeeladri is worshipped in a different divine form each day. On the fourth day, the goddess is revered as Sri Maha Chandi Devi. According to Hindu religious traditions, Maha Chandi represents the combined power of Mahakali, Mahalakshmi, and Mahasaraswati. She is worshipped as a powerful manifestation of the Divine Mother who protects the righteous and destroys evil. The Chandi Devi Temple situated on Neel Parvat in Haridwar is also a well-known pilgrimage destination associated with the goddess.
According to religious beliefs, worshipping Maha Chandi Devi during Navaratri is believed to bring knowledge, prosperity, recognition, and success. Devotees traditionally offer red or golden-coloured sarees and worship the goddess with red lotus flowers. Offerings may include kattu pongali, sweet pongal, kadambam, pulihora, laddus, and rava kesari. Reciting sacred texts and hymns such as Durga Saptashati, Chandi Saptashati, Lalitha Sahasranamam, and Sri Devi Khadgamala Stotram is considered auspicious. Devotees seek the goddess's blessings through prayers and rituals performed with devotion.
