Panic has gripped Hyderabad after two individuals showing primary symptoms similar to Ebola were shifted overnight from a private hospital in the city to the Gandhi Hospital, the designated government nodal centre in Secunderabad. The patients reportedly had a travel history to African countries, prompting doctors to raise a high alert and follow strict isolation protocols. They were immediately moved to a dedicated Ebola isolation ward for intensive monitoring.
According to medical officials, both patients are suffering from high fever and related symptoms. Blood and saliva samples have been collected and sent to the Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB) in Hyderabad for urgent testing. The results are expected within 24 to 48 hours. If found positive, the samples will be forwarded to the National Institute of Virology (NIV) in Pune for final confirmation.
