Fadnavis: ‘Ramayana’ Deserves an Oscar

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has made a strong statement about Nitesh Tiwari’s upcoming epic ‘Ramayana’, saying he would be extremely disappointed if the film fails to receive an Oscar. Speaking at the inauguration of Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios, Fadnavis praised the project as a film that could be remembered for thousands of years. He also said the two-part production could take Indian cinema to new heights on the global stage.

Fadnavis had earlier spoken highly of the film after visiting its sets with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, praising the quality of the production and the way modern technology is being combined with India’s ancient storytelling traditions. The film stars Ranbir Kapoor in the lead and is scheduled to release on November 6. Ranbir has also revealed that around 50 percent of the second part has already been completed.
