The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) imposed a fine of ₹1 lakh on a catering company after a passenger found a fly in the food served onboard the Rajdhani Express. The incident occurred on Tuesday in the Ahmedabad–Mumbai Tejas Rajdhani Express when a passenger ordered veg biryani and discovered the contamination while eating. The passenger immediately lodged a complaint with IRCTC authorities.
Following the complaint, the train captain and catering manager reached out to the passenger and issued an apology. They offered to replace the meal, but the passenger declined. IRCTC also issued a show-cause notice to the catering firm, warning of possible cancellation of its license. The penalty was imposed on Arha Hospitality Private Limited, which supplies food from its Surat-based kitchen.
