Fresh Case Against Revanna.. Jail Raid

Central Crime Branch officials said a mobile phone, pen drive, charger and diary were found in the possession of former MP Prajwal Revanna, who is serving a life sentence in a rape case. A CCB team conducted a surprise search lasting nearly five hours at Bengaluru’s Parappana Agrahara Central Prison. A blue Android phone, pen drive, charger and diary were reportedly seized from Revanna’s barrack. Jail authorities also found a mobile phone in the possession of another inmate, identified as Pratap Rai.

The state government has ordered a detailed inquiry into how the prohibited items reached the prison. As part of the action, Jail Assistant Superintendent Eeranna Rangapur was suspended, while Jail Superintendent Anush Kumar was issued a show-cause notice. Revanna was convicted in a sexual assault case filed by a woman in 2019. A special court sentenced him to life imprisonment and imposed a ₹10 lakh fine on August 2, 2025.
