

General Dhiraj Seth on Tuesday officially assumed charge as the 31st Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) of the Indian Army, succeeding General Upendra Dwivedi following his retirement. A highly decorated officer from the Armoured Corps, General Seth previously served as the Vice Chief of the Army Staff. An alumnus of the National Defence Academy, he brings nearly four decades of distinguished military experience.
During his illustrious career, General Seth has commanded several major formations, including the Southern Command and the South Western Command. He has played a key role in enhancing the Indian Army's operational readiness, modernization efforts and future warfare capabilities. His appointment comes at a crucial time as the Army continues to strengthen combat preparedness, adopt advanced technologies and address evolving national and regional security challenges.
