Andhra Pradesh Minister Kondapalli Srinivas said the state government is focused on transforming DWCRA women into successful entrepreneurs. As part of efforts to promote food processing industries in rural areas, the government has linked the Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises scheme with the Stree Nidhi Credit Cooperative Federation Limited. Eligible DWCRA women can set up food processing units with a unit cost of up to ₹3 lakh using loans from Stree Nidhi.
The scheme will support units involved in fruit and vegetable processing, millets, pulses, spices, pickles, flour-based products and snacks. The minister said district federations will be treated as District Resource Organisations to identify DWCRA women with interest and potential to start such enterprises. He added that the government would not limit its support to providing loans and would extend assistance until the women’s businesses become successful.
