Government Approves Fish Seed Distribution Scheme

The Telangana Government has sanctioned ₹116 crore for the implementation of its flagship Free Fish and Prawn Seed Distribution Scheme, aimed at improving the livelihoods of fishermen and promoting the growth of the fisheries sector across the state. The initiative is expected to strengthen inland fisheries, enhance fish production, and generate sustainable income for fishing communities.

The government has directed officials to complete the procurement process through tenders at the earliest. As part of the scheme, around 90 crore fish and prawn seeds will be purchased and released free of cost into ponds, tanks, and water bodies across Telangana, ensuring higher fish yield and better economic opportunities for fishermen.
