A torrential downpour on Tuesday brought Hyderabad to a standstill, causing widespread flooding across the city. Malkajgiri Vinayaknagar recorded the highest rainfall at 13 cm, followed by Bansilalpet and Himayatnagar areas. The storm, accompanied by lightning and strong winds, led to severe disruption, including the death of two people in the Old City after a live electric wire snapped.
Flooded roads paralysed traffic across major routes, especially in the IT corridor, including Gachibowli, Kondapur, and Jubilee Hills. Vehicles were stranded for hours as waterlogging worsened and public transport services were disrupted. Several trees were uprooted in multiple areas, while low-lying colonies in Malkajpet, Manikonda, and other parts were submerged. The IMD has forecast continued rainfall for the next few days with a yellow alert issued for several districts.
