A major political controversy has erupted in Tamil Nadu after TVK MLA Dr. Ilaiyaraja alleged that he was offered ₹35 crore to vote against the proposed no-confidence motion on the Assembly Speaker. According to the complaint, a man identified as Thirunavukkarasu, claiming to represent IPDS, contacted the MLA over the phone with the offer. When Dr. Ilaiyaraja rejected the proposal, the accused allegedly threatened to kill him and his family.
Following the complaint lodged with the Chennai Police Commissioner, the police launched an investigation and arrested four accused, including Thirunavukkarasu. During the probe, investigators found that the phone call was allegedly made on the instructions of former minister V. Senthil Balaji and his brother Ashok Kumar. The investigation is continuing to determine the full extent of the alleged conspiracy.
