Odisha police have reportedly raided an alleged illegal casino operating in Gajapati district near the Andhra Pradesh border in an operation that led to around 70 people being taken into custody. According to the information provided, police seized approximately ₹12 lakh in cash, nine cars and 60 mobile phones during the raid. The operation has drawn attention because some of those detained are reportedly police personnel and political leaders from Andhra Pradesh.
The identities of the individuals detained and the precise nature of their alleged involvement have not been independently confirmed here. Further details about the organisers, the evidence collected and the legal action against those involved are awaited. The case has also raised questions about the alleged operation of illegal gambling activities near the inter-state border. The investigation is expected to establish the circumstances surrounding the casino and the roles, if any, of those taken into custody.
