The INDIA bloc is planning to intensify its protests against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and is demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. As part of the campaign, leaders decided to organise a massive public rally in Hyderabad during a meeting held in New Delhi on Tuesday, according to reports.
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president Mahesh Goud are reportedly planning to hold the rally between October 25 and 30. They are expected to meet within the next day or two to discuss arrangements for mobilising around one lakh people. With senior Congress leaders Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi, along with other INDIA bloc leaders, expected to attend, the state Congress leadership is considering the event a major political programme, party sources said.
