Tensions remain high across West Asia, with concerns growing over the possibility of further military escalation involving Iran, the United States and Israel. Amid fears of potential ground operations, international media reports have highlighted military training sessions for Iranian women at a military facility in Tehran’s Imam Hussein Square. Participants are reportedly being taught basic weapons handling, including the use of handguns, and are being prepared to respond to emergencies and protect their families and communities if fighting intensifies.
Iran has also pushed back against warnings from US President Donald Trump. Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has said that sanctions and the use of military force cannot bring an end to conflicts, arguing that a solution can only emerge through fair and balanced negotiations. Meanwhile, Iran is reportedly considering the possibility of withdrawing from the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT). Parliamentarian Alireza Salimi said the issue is on the parliamentary agenda, while also stressing that Iran would not give up its enriched uranium. The developments have added to concerns over the future direction of Iran’s nuclear programme and regional security.
