Kalyana Lakshmi Funds Directly to Bank Accounts?

The Telangana government is planning major reforms in the implementation of the Kalyana Lakshmi and Shaadi Mubarak schemes. Under the proposed changes, the financial assistance of ₹1,00,116 for eligible beneficiaries may soon be transferred directly to their bank accounts through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system. The government is also considering launching a dedicated online portal to speed up the verification and approval process.

At present, beneficiaries receive the assistance through cheques after multiple levels of verification by revenue officials and approval from the local MLA, leading to significant delays. Thousands of applications remain pending for months, and in some cases, even for over a year. Officials believe the DBT system and a dedicated portal will ensure faster disbursal, reduce administrative delays, and eliminate issues related to cheque printing, distribution, and expiry.
