Kavitha has demanded 75 per cent reservation for Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates in police constable recruitment in Telangana’s agency areas. She cited GO No. 109, issued in 1988 in undivided Andhra Pradesh, and Gazette Notification No. 49, issued in 2018 after the formation of Telangana, stating that the reservation should be implemented in these areas. She alleged that the 2026 Police Recruitment Board notification did not provide for the reservation, potentially depriving tribal youth of more than 400 job opportunities across districts including Asifabad, Nagarkurnool, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Mulugu, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Adilabad, Mancherial, Warangal, Khammam and Mahabubabad.
Kavitha pointed out that 75 per cent reservation for tribal candidates in agency areas had been provided in constable recruitment notifications issued in 2015, 2018 and 2022. She questioned why the same provision had not been included in the 2026 notification and said the omission would affect the rights of tribal communities. She urged Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, who also holds the Home portfolio, to intervene immediately and ensure justice for tribal youth. She called for necessary amendments to the 2026 constable recruitment notification to provide 75 per cent ST reservation in agency areas.
