Major Action by Centre Over Death of Indian Nationals

India has strongly protested the incident in which four Indian nationals lost their lives and has summoned the Russian Embassy's Chargé d'Affaires in New Delhi. The Government of India conveyed its deep concern over the tragic attack and demanded strict action against those responsible.

India also reiterated that attacks on civilian commercial vessels are unacceptable and violate international norms. Another Indian seafarer remains critically injured following the incident. Officials noted that this is the first reported case of Indian seafarers losing their lives since the Russia–Ukraine war began, making the incident particularly significant.
