Venezuela has been rocked by a devastating earthquake that caused widespread destruction across several regions. Two powerful tremors struck within seconds of each other, leading to the collapse of multiple buildings and critical infrastructure. According to preliminary reports, more than 160 people have lost their lives, while over 970 others have sustained serious injuries. Emergency teams are continuing rescue efforts in affected areas, searching for survivors trapped beneath the rubble.
The disaster has severely disrupted transportation, electricity, and communication services in several parts of the country. In response to the crisis, the President of Venezuela has declared a nationwide state of emergency. Authorities have mobilized resources to assist victims and restore essential services, while concerns remain that the casualty toll could rise as rescue operations continue.
