Andhra Pradesh Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister P. Narayana inspected the ongoing construction of Amaravati’s iconic towers and held a review meeting with CRDA and ADCL engineers and representatives of contracting agencies. He said heavy rains had disrupted construction work last month, but activities had now picked up pace. The first diagrid section of the iconic towers has been completed, and construction is progressing at a rate of six floors every two months. Foundation work for the iconic Assembly and High Court buildings is nearly complete, while buildings for officials and public representatives are also nearing completion. The minister said inauguration programmes would begin after November 11.
Narayana said work on 350 km of trunk roads, 1,500 km of layout roads and other infrastructure was progressing rapidly. Around 35,000 workers are currently engaged in construction across the capital region. He said targets had been set for each construction agency, with the goal of completing Amaravati’s development by October 2028, as directed by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. Land pooling for the proposed International Sports City across three villages is largely complete, with more than 75% expected to be completed by the end of next month. Singapore is expected to prepare the master plan for the road network by December. A parallel road connecting Amaravati directly to Guntur is also being designed. Elections in villages where land pooling is underway are being deferred for the time being, the minister said.
