Missile Strike on Oil Vessel Sparks Fresh Tensions in Strait of Hormuz

Tensions in the strategically important Strait of Hormuz have intensified once again following a missile strike on a vessel linked to the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC). The company confirmed that one of its vessels was targeted while transiting the waterway. The incident was brought under control and no injuries were reported. Iranian media had earlier reported that a vessel believed to be an oil tanker caught fire in the southern part of the strait. The exact extent of damage and the circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation.

Meanwhile, the regional tensions have spread to Saudi Arabia. Yemen’s Iran-aligned Houthi group claimed it had carried out a drone attack on Saudi Aramco’s Jazan refinery. Saudi authorities confirmed that a fire broke out at the facility but said it was brought under control and no injuries were reported. The latest incidents come amid continuing concerns over maritime security and energy supplies across the region, while diplomatic efforts over the Strait of Hormuz remain fragile.
