Mountaineer Nirmal Purja Dies in POK Avalanche

A massive avalanche struck near Broad Peak mountain in Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK), resulting in the death of renowned mountaineer Nirmal Purja. Rescue teams have recovered the bodies of five climbers so far, while intensive search operations are underway to locate the remaining mountaineers.

Nirmal Purja, who gained global recognition for his mountaineering achievements, had created history by scaling 14 peaks within six months. Authorities and rescue teams are continuing efforts amid challenging weather conditions to trace other climbers affected by the avalanche.
