A major lapse in the NEET portal has come to light after Ahmedabad police arrested a 19 year old youth from Bihar, Naveen Yadav, for allegedly hacking candidates’ passwords and PINs to divert refund amounts. Authorities said he accessed student profiles linked with the portal and illegally replaced their bank account details with his own.
As a result, the ₹1,700 refund meant for each student was credited into his account. The National Testing Agency (NTA) has been issuing refunds after the cancellation of the earlier NEET exam. Investigations revealed that the accused manipulated the system to reroute multiple refund transactions before being traced and arrested.
