NEET-UG Paper Leak: CBI Chargesheet Exposes Major Security Lapses

The CBI’s chargesheet in the NEET-UG 2026 paper-leak case has reportedly revealed serious lapses in the National Testing Agency’s question-paper security system and alleged involvement of NTA panel experts. The agency has filed charges against 13 accused and relied on digital and forensic evidence, including residential access-control records, mobile-phone locations and biometric data. According to the investigation, subject experts involved in preparing and translating the papers allegedly misused their access to confidential questions and passed them on through intermediaries and coaching networks.

The investigation also pointed to security gaps at the NTA office in Delhi, where experts had access to confidential question-setting and translation rooms without adequate CCTV surveillance or effective entry and exit checks. The CBI alleges that some experts retained questions during the translation process, either by writing them on slips or memorising them, and later reproduced them. The agency has also alleged that leaked questions were circulated to candidates through intermediaries and coaching networks. The probe has highlighted serious concerns over examination security and the need for stronger safeguards in the conduct of national-level entrance tests.
