

The newly installed spillway gates at the Tungabhadra Dam in Karnataka were inaugurated on Thursday in the presence of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, and Union Jal Shakti Minister C.R. Patil. The event marked an important milestone in strengthening the dam’s infrastructure.
A total of 33 new spillway gates were installed at the dam at a cost of ₹51 crore jointly by the Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka governments. The replacement of the old gates is expected to improve the dam's operational efficiency and enhance water management for the beneficiary states.
After the inauguration ceremony, the three Chief Ministers and the Union Minister proceeded to the public meeting venue in Hosapete. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu is expected to address the gathering shortly. Ministers Nimmala Ramanaidu and Payyavula Keshav accompanied the Chief Minister during the visit.
