New toll regulations concerning vehicles owned by persons with disabilities will come into effect from today. Under the revised provisions, eligible vehicles will be exempted from toll charges. Persons with disabilities will also be allowed to obtain an Exempted FASTag, enabling them to pass through eligible toll plazas without paying the applicable toll fee on national highways.
The validity of the Exempted FASTag will depend on the percentage of disability. For individuals with 70 to 100 percent disability, the FASTag will be valid for five years. Those with 40 to 70 percent disability will receive a FASTag with a validity of three years. Eligible beneficiaries can apply for the Exempted FASTag by following the prescribed procedure.
