Notification Issued for the Second Phase of Census

The Central Government has issued the official notification for Census 2027, paving the way for the country's next nationwide population enumeration. The census process will begin on October 1, 2026, in the Union Territories of Ladakh and Jammu & Kashmir, as well as the states of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

For the remaining states and Union Territories, the Census will commence on March 1, 2027. The nationwide exercise will be conducted in phases between October 1, 2026, and March 31, 2027. The government is making extensive preparations to ensure the smooth collection of demographic data across the country.
