Opposition parties are scheduled to organise a ‘Chalo Delhi’ protest at 1:30 PM today, with the Congress and other members of the INDIA bloc expected to participate. The demonstration is aimed at opposing the Central government over allegations of “vote theft” and concerns raised by opposition parties regarding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. The protest is expected to bring together leaders and supporters from several opposition parties.
According to the announced protest agenda, the demonstrators are expected to criticise Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Opposition leaders are also demanding that Gyanesh Kumar step down from his position as Chief Election Commissioner. These are the opposition’s allegations and political demands; the claims should not be treated as established facts. Further details about the demonstration and any official responses are awaited.
