Pentagon Says Grok AI Assisted Military Operations

The United States Department of Defense has stated in court proceedings that AI technologies developed by Elon Musk’s xAI have played a significant role in military operations. The remarks were made during a legal dispute involving the company’s use of gas turbines for large-scale data centers. According to submissions presented before the court, the US Justice Department argued that xAI’s innovations contribute to national security and strategic defense capabilities.

During the hearing, Pentagon AI official Cameron Stanley reportedly said that the AI system “Grok” was utilized under Project Maven, a defense initiative focused on advanced intelligence and targeting technologies. Stanley stated that AI-assisted systems helped identify and engage a large number of military targets during operations involving Iran. The testimony has reignited debate over the growing role of artificial intelligence in modern warfare, military decision-making, and national security infrastructure.
