Prime Minister Narendra Modi met President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Tuesday evening following the Padma Awards ceremony. The meeting has drawn significant attention as it comes amid growing speculation about a possible reshuffle and expansion of the Union Cabinet. Photographs of the meeting were later shared by the President’s Office on social media platform X.
The discussions have gained importance after Union Minister of State George Kurian resigned from his post earlier in the day, with his resignation receiving the President’s approval. Political circles are also discussing the possibility of assigning more party responsibilities to Union ministers in states heading for elections. Reports suggest that new faces, including leaders who recently joined the BJP or NDA, could be inducted into the Cabinet. Against this backdrop, the Modi-Murmu meeting has further fueled expectations of a Cabinet reorganization in the coming days.
