

Chennai, October 11: Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Chennai on Sunday to inaugurate, dedicate and lay the foundation stones for development projects worth more than ₹13,000 crore across Tamil Nadu. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay, Governor R. V. Arlekar, Union Minister L. Murugan, state ministers and other public representatives received him at Chennai Airport. Modi and Vijay later travelled together on the newly inaugurated Poonamallee–Vadapalani stretch of Chennai Metro Phase II, covering approximately 14.6 km. The new corridor is expected to improve connectivity across the city.
The Prime Minister’s itinerary also included a programme at the Sudha Gopalakrishnan Brain Centre at IIT Madras, prayers at Jalakandeswarar Temple and participation in the golden jubilee celebrations of Jaigopal Garodia Hindu Vidyalaya. The projects covered several sectors, including roads, railways, ports, petroleum, education and urban transport. The initiatives are aimed at strengthening Tamil Nadu’s infrastructure, improving connectivity and supporting economic development.
