Polling Begins for Telangana RTC Trade Union Elections

Polling has begun for the recognised trade union elections of the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC), marking the return of union elections after a gap of nearly ten years. Voting is scheduled from 5 AM to 6 PM on October 9, 2026, across the state. According to the information provided, approximately 34,000 to 37,000 RTC employees are expected to exercise their voting rights. The elections have generated considerable interest among employees, with several unions competing to represent workers.

The results are scheduled to be announced on October 17, 2026. The recognised union will play an important role in representing employees in discussions with the RTC management and the state government on issues such as wages, pending arrears, bonuses, dearness allowance, service conditions and job security. With employees awaiting a representative body after years without these elections, the outcome is expected to be significant for the future of labour representation within the corporation.
