Probationary IPS officer P. Uday Krishna Reddy, who was arrested in connection with an alleged sexual harassment case involving a fellow woman trainee IPS officer, has been granted conditional bail by the Upparpally Court in Rangareddy district. The case was registered by Rajendranagar police based on a complaint alleging that Uday Krishna Reddy sexually harassed and threatened the woman officer during their 2023-batch training at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA) on the outskirts of Hyderabad. Police booked him under the relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) concerning sexual harassment and criminal intimidation.
Following the allegations, the Union Home Ministry had cancelled his probation and placed him under suspension. After his arrest, Uday Krishna Reddy had remained in judicial custody at Chanchalguda Central Prison for more than 60 days. The court has now granted him bail subject to conditions, including furnishing sureties and cooperating with the ongoing investigation. The case had created considerable controversy and attracted attention across civil services circles.
