The Central Government is likely to provide relief to owners of BS-VI vehicles by extending the validity period of Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificates. According to reports, the government is considering a proposal to reduce the frequency of pollution tests for newer vehicles that meet BS-VI emission standards.
If the proposal is approved, private BS-VI vehicles that are less than six years old may receive PUC certificates with a validity of up to three years at a time. Currently, vehicle owners are required to renew their PUC certificates at regular intervals. The proposed change is expected to reduce compliance burdens and offer greater convenience to vehicle owners.
