Concerns over food safety have intensified in Khammam after several incidents involving contaminated food were reported at restaurants and biryani centers. In the past month, multiple customers allegedly found foreign objects in food, including a lizard in a biryani parcel and a cockroach in another meal. In another incident, six members of a family reportedly suffered vomiting and stomach related problems after consuming biryani.
Residents have demanded strict action against hotels and restaurants that allegedly violate food safety standards. Questions have also been raised about inspections and enforcement by the authorities. Officials have warned that food establishments operating without proper licenses will face legal action, and regular inspections are expected to be intensified.
